The Wharf Uncorked brings together local and celebrity chefs and more than 100 labels of wine for a three-day culinary experience. In addition, there will be chef demonstrations, book signings, the luxury yacht walk and both live and silent auctions benefiting Make-A-Wish® Alabama.
Rouses Markets will be hosting a free cooking demonstration at their Orange Beach location. Chef Nino will be preparing an Italian Seafood Stew. They’ll have their friends from Noble Vines demoing Rose, Cabernet, & Chardonnay. Each guest will have the opportunity to sample this delicious dish. This is a FREE EVENT! *Must be 21 to sample
The weekend will begin at The Port from 5:30-7:30 p.m. with a roster of high profile guests, an open bar, a wine pull and live auction benefiting Make-A-Wish Alabama, high-end wine tastings, signature drinks from John Emerald Distillery, and small bites. Guests can have a front-row view as three local chefs battle it out during the Chef Showdown. This competition will test the culinary skills and quick-thinking of these chefs, as the rules challenge them to cook against the clock, use Alabama Gulf Seafood and include mystery ingredients. The showdown will be hosted by Texas-born, Georgia-transplant Ford Fry. Chef Fry is both a culinary powerhouse, as well as managing partner of over a dozen nationally celebrated restaurants. Alongside him for the evening will be Laura Bento, the southern beauty behind Good Grit Magazine. This year’s panel of judges for the showdown is quite the pack of heavy-hitting talent. The table will be comprised of dynamic husband and wife duo, Chef James Briscione and Brooke Parkhurst, Andy Chapman from Eat Y’all and Eat Jackson fame and local boy Brody Olive, Executive Chef at the Perdido Beach Resort and 2017 Wharf Uncorked Grand Tasting champion. Witness as they use their discerning pallets to award 2018’s champion. James and Brooke will also be signing copies of their latest cookbook throughout the event.

The Wharf offers a wide variety of fare from more than 10 restaurants on property. Several of these chefs along with others along the Gulf Coast will curate dinner menus and signature wine pairings for the Local Wine Dinners. Guests can make reservation directly through the restaurant of their choice.

It all leads up to the Grand Tasting taking place on Saturday. Main Street and Wharf Parkway will be lined with vendors offering samples of the finest food, wine, beer, and spirits. Guests will have the opportunity to cast a vote for their favorite, and the night will close with a ceremony of awards. This year, the champion of the Culinary Competition will be an automatic Elite Qualifier for the World Food Championships in November back at The Wharf.
The event will include a silent auction benefiting Make-A-Wish Alabama, luxury yacht walk, samplings from local restaurants, and so much more. Cooking demonstrations from celebrity chefs will be held on the Rouses Markets & Banfi Culinary Experience Stage. Enjoy high end wine sampling in the cozy Sandy Sansing BMW Lounge and cookbook signings by James Briscione and Brooke Parkhurst.
